Healthy Hair All Summer Long

From humidity and the ocean to chlorine and extra sun, the summer can add extra stress to your hair. Keep your hair healthy through the summer with these tips for our experts in the Mount Pleasant hair salon.

One of the most important parts of our services is a trial run for your bridal makeup. We want to make sure we understand your beauty needs and how you'd like to look. It's also important to know how your skin reacts to the makeup. 

Moisturize

A moisturizing routine, like water, is also one of the key parts to overall healthy skin. Starting three to four months before your wedding, we recommend starting a moisturizing routine. 

Most routines include wearing a daily moisturizer with at least SPF 15 every day and a night cream every night. If you need recommendations on what moisturizers will work best for your skin type, talk with our makeup experts.

2015 Charleston Bridal Makeup Trends

Here in Charleston, usually traditional, southern looks reign supreme, but we're seeing new brides jumping out of the traditional box to showcase new bridal makeup trends in 2015. 

From our own beautiful brides and celebrity trends to runway looks -- we've compiled some of the best wedding beauty trends expected throughout the year.

Lips

Berry + Rose Shades - The not quite red/not quite pink blush hues are hugely popular this spring, giving brides a kissable, "just bitten," look. 

Nude - For more classic brides, we expect last year's popular nude lip trend to continue.

Contouring - On the flip side, we can use contouring to define your face and create structured definition, as made famous by the Kardashians.

During the winter, it's easy to stop thinking about keeping your skin healthy because you are bundled up in extra layers. Winter is one of the most important times to take care of your skin. With less humidity in the air outside, and spending almost all of our time indoors in the manufactured heat -- our skin can dry out very quickly. 

Keep Skin Moisturized In The Winter

• Find a lotion that works for your skin texture and tone. Try to find a moisturizer that is "nonclogging" oil-based. Oil-based moisturizers create a protective layer over your skin, while water-based lotions do not. Nonclogging oil bases are made with avocado oil or almond oil, or others.
• Keep using sunscreen! Just because the sun is behind that clouds doesn't mean harmful UV rays aren't reaching your skin.
• Use a humidifier in your house to battle the dryness caused by home heating systems
• Drink lots of water
• Avoid harsh chemical peels, which can strip natural oils from the skin.
