How Often Should You Get A Haircut?

In our Mt. Pleasant hair salon, many of our customers aren't sure how often they should get their hair cut. Our stylists always say it depends on your personal hair goals and hair health! Regular cuts don't make your hair grow fast, but they promote healthy growth by stopping split ends and preventing breakage, while also maintaining your style.

Long To Medium Length Haircuts

For long to medium length hairstyles, our stylists recommend getting your hair trimmed every 6 to 12 weeks. The longer your hair is, the older and weaker it is. Regular haircuts keep longer hair strong and healthy by trimming off the split or damaged ends. If you are trying to grow out your long or medium length hairstyle, regular trims are still needed to keep hair healthy.

Short Hairstyles

For men and women with short styles, regular haircuts are very important for maintaining your style and shape. Our stylists recommend a haircut every 4 to 6 weeks. If you are trying to grow out your short hair, it is still important to get regular cuts. Keep hair healthy and looking good with trims every 8 to 12 weeks.

Additional Haircut Tips

If you are trying to grow out any length hair, haircuts are very important! We can't stress this enough! Your hair will be healthier and could grow faster without the damage from split ends and breakage slowing it down. Talk with your stylist about your hair growth goals, and they'll be sure to trim off only what's necessary.

If you use chemical, heating, straightening, or other harsher styling products/treatments you may need to have your hair cut more often, no matter the length. Harsh styling treatments can weaken hair, making it more susceptible to damage.
